Na d\u00e9cada de 1950, uma mudan\u00e7a simples, mas revolucion\u00e1ria, na forma de movimentar mercadorias melhorou para sempre o com\u00e9rcio global. Essa mudan\u00e7a n\u00e3o s\u00f3 facilitou o transporte de produtos em n\u00edvel internacional, como tamb\u00e9m aumentou a efici\u00eancia, reduziu custos e contribuiu para o crescimento do com\u00e9rcio mundial tal como o conhecemos hoje.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A origem do cont\u00eainer mar\u00edtimo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Embora o conceito de cont\u00eaineres de carga j\u00e1 existisse em diferentes formas, foi em 1956 que <strong>Malcolm McLean<\/strong>, um empres\u00e1rio norte-americano, levou a ideia a outro n\u00edvel. McLean, propriet\u00e1rio de uma empresa de transporte rodovi\u00e1rio, percebeu que as cargas n\u00e3o estavam otimizadas para serem transportadas de forma eficiente entre diferentes modais de transporte.<\/p>\n<p>Com isso, McLean desenvolveu o primeiro <strong>cont\u00eainer padr\u00e3o<\/strong> de 20 p\u00e9s de comprimento, conhecido como \u201ccont\u00eainer de McLean\u201d, que podia ser transportado em navios, caminh\u00f5es e trens sem a necessidade de descarregar e carregar a mercadoria a cada vez. Essa inova\u00e7\u00e3o permitiu que os produtos fossem carregados e descarregados muito mais rapidamente, sem necessidade de manuseio manual, o que economizou tempo e recursos. Em 1956, o primeiro cont\u00eainer padr\u00e3o viajou de New Jersey a Houston, marcando o in\u00edcio de uma nova era para a log\u00edstica internacional.<\/p>\n<p>A cria\u00e7\u00e3o do cont\u00eainer mudou drasticamente a forma como as mercadorias eram movimentadas.
