International transport between Japan and Spain
Every day, dozens of tons of goods are moved by sea, air and land around the world. The products and the points of departure and arrival are very diverse.
Freight forwarding operations between Europe and Asia are among the most numerous despite the distance between most countries. Two of the countries that have a large volume of cargo exchanges are Japan and Spain.
These two nations import and export foodstuff like fruit, mango, avocado, ham, melon or cheese, drinks like wine, technological products, vehicles, medical devices, raw materials and all kinds of materials.
However, what are the requirements for shipping goods from Spain or another EU country to Japan? According to the Spanish government, the import regime is practically liberalized in Japan, except for some specific sectors.
There is an EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (February 1, 2019) that confirms it. This Agreement removes 90% of tariffs on European exports to Japan. This regulation allows exports from Spain to Japan to be simple and fluid, as long as we have a logistics operator to help us in all the steps. It should be a freight forwarder that help us to ensure that our goods reach their destination without any problems.
Japanese customs authorities at ports and airports require imports from Spain to be accompanied by a set of documents such as an invoice, information of the shipment and certificates. On the other hand, if the shipment is from Japan to Spain, it will be necessary to consider the tariffs and customs of the European Union.
The Japanese cities that exchange more cargo with Spain both exporting and importing are:
- Tokyo
- Kyoto
- Kanto
- Hiroshima
- Nagasaki
- Nagoya
- Osaka
- Sapporo
- Sendai
- Yokohama
- Oita
